Join Design Education CIC at their three-day Design Camp from 26-28 May, run association with the Hammersmith BID and the London Festival of Architecture.
With a ‘People and Places’ theme, all the work produced will be displayed in an exhibition in the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith for the month of June.
45 places are be available on the camp to children in KS2 and KS3 – places are £75 each, with a discounted rate of £25 for for children in receipt of free school meals.
Workshop A is Characters led by Artist Sara Ekenger for Y3, Y4 & Y5
The group will be designing and making people to inhabit Hammersmith. They will generate drawings and design and make their own puppets including costumes, and mainly made from wood, papier-mache and textiles.
Workshop B is Hidden Hammersmith led by Design Graduate Beci Callow for Y4, Y5 & Y6
Children will research, design and make a model of their favourite local building or location which will be integrated on to a large map of the area. Working with wood, plastics, silicon and metal this workshop will offer a fascinating overview of the designing process.
Workshop C is The River led by Engineer and Architect James Woodcock for Y7, Y8 & Y9
Pupils will explore Hammersmith’s connections with the River Thames and re design the river front using recycled materials to create an installation piece in a local park. This will then be moved to the Lyric for the final exhibition.
