A New Direction is London’s leader in cultural education, connecting children, young people and education with the best of arts and culture.
We work with schools to advocate for and develop excellent models of cultural education across London. Our work includes supporting the delivery of Artsmark – a national programme to enable schools to evaluate, celebrate and strengthen a quality arts offer, and Arts Award – a nationally recognised arts qualification for pupils.
Our ongoing aim is to develop and codify best practice in cultural education. We are interested in the role of cultural education in developing young people’s character (confidence, resilience, grit, motivation, honesty) and the importance of character in improving educational outcomes for young people.
From 2015 onwards we are developing a series of programmes, training and professional development opportunities examining the role of cultural education in building character. If you would be interested in learning more about these initiatives, either as a project partner or participant, then please contact Holly Donagh – Partnerships Director or call A New Direction (020 7608 2132).
